Yara Africa & Asia launches growX to empower communities across Africa and Asia

Yara Africa & Asia (YAA) has launched growX, a platform to empower under-resourced communities in Africa and Asia with knowledge, skills, and resources. growX offers educational programs, mentorship, training, and digital tools for personal and professional growth.

“With growX, we’re taking a hands-on approach to supporting smallholder farmers and surrounding communities that are vital to food security and economic growth. By working with partners, we can deliver real solutions that make a lasting impact on farms and beyond,” says Marisa Soares, SVP, Innovation & Impact, Yara Africa & Asia.

growX will foster entrepreneurship, sustainability, and inclusive economic development through strategic partnerships. Leveraging Yara’s presence in over 20 countries, growX aims to help communities navigate an ever-changing world.

growEnterprise:

A key initiative of growX, growEnterprise is a digital business training program for MSMEs in Yara’s supply chain, focusing on business resilience, efficiency, and financial sustainability, especially for women and youth in agriculture. Over the past two years, Yara has developed and upskilled over 2,500 MSMEs in India and Kenya.

“We acknowledge the unique challenges faced by Indian farmers and communities. Our mission has always been to broaden our reach and growX shall amplify our impact. By leveraging the strength of collaboration with local partners, we can craft transformative solutions that address the needs of our people and propel India's agricultural and economic advancement. This initiative aligns seamlessly with India's vision of fostering inclusive and sustainable growth,” says Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director, Yara South Asia.

Thryve:

YAA’s broader innovation and impact framework, Thryve includes Thryve Innovation CoLab for developing and scaling solutions to food system challenges, and growX for impact efforts in Africa and Asia. Combining growX’s community initiatives with Thryve’s innovation efforts, YAA aims to drive food security, support sustainable livelihoods, and build resilient economies.

The launch of growX follows the opening of Thryve Innovation CoLab in Singapore in May 2024. Thryve Innovation CoLab has been engaging collaborators to develop solutions for food security and economic empowerment.
